In 2001, in Shanghai, China, a team of college student volunteers dedicated to serving migrant children living on the city's fringes was born. By 2006, these volunteers had formed a choir for the migrant children, known as the "Kids of the Shepherd." After seven years of persistence and service, in 2008, the volunteers officially established an organization called Shanghai Jiuqian Volunteer Center, a name symbolizing a lasting connection. From 2011, Jiuqian expanded its services beyond Shanghai's migrant children to include remote rural areas, with volunteers traveling to Jiangxi, Anhui, Henan, Yunnan, and other locations to bring a rich and colorful extracurricular life to the rural children there. From 2011 to 2023, Jiuqian served thousands of rural children and successfully helped 18 students receive scholarships to study abroad. In 2023, the founder of Jiuqian established Sanzo's Education Society, hoping to assist more underprivileged groups through a more open and superior online education platform.
